We offer a variety of Lymphatic Drainage therapies at Woodfield Physiotherapy – including Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) and Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage (RLD).
Alex Brooks, our Lymphatic Drainage therapist, offers treatments to private and GP referred NHS patients.
Lymphatic drainage can benefit and help treat the following conditions:
- Arthritic pain and joint inflammation
- Chronic fatigue and ME
- Fluid retention and general oedema (due to acute trauma, surgery or injury)
- Lipoedema (including mixed Lipo-lymphoedema)
- Migraines and headaches
- Muscular tension and inflammation, general aches and pain
- Poor sleep
- Recovery and healing of bruises, burns, scars and wounds (including ulcers)
- Sinusitis and hay fever
- Skin conditions including acne, rosacea and eczema
Treatments are tailored to everyone’s specific requirements. Lymphatic drainage massage promotes the body’s natural detoxification process, it can boost your immune system and encourages better circulation.
Depending on your specific requirements you may benefit from either Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) or Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage (RLD). Alex can guide you in deciding which may be most beneficial to you. Both are very gentle, non-invasive and relaxing forms of therapy, with extensive evidence-based research behind them. They are widely prescribed in the United States, Australia, Germany and Austria.
They can be safely offered to people who are receiving active input for cancer or those who have previously had interventions in relation to cancer care.
Alex also offers Combined Decongestive Therapy (CDT), along with assessment and measurement for Compression Hosiery, which can be very beneficial to those wishing to best manage their Lymphoedema, Lipoedema or Lipo-lymphoedema. She works closely with MEDI her preferred compression garment company (www.mediuk.co.uk).
Your first session is usually the longest and includes a brief initial consultation prior to a full treatment. Please allow up to 75mins for this. Follow on sessions are approximately one hours long.
